Causeway Financial: private asset manager owned by its founders

One factor that defines Causeway Financial’s commitment to clients is that the two founders of the company still own 100% of the business.

Mike Davis and Tim Martin together have more than 60 years’ experience in the financial sector and have held senior roles in organisations working across the Asia Pacific, United States and Europe.

Mike Davis
Founder & Director

Mike is an executive director of Causeway Financial.

Mike began his career in financial services with Deutsche Bank in 1984, initially in debt market trading and sales. He then enjoyed a 14-year career at Merrill Lynch that saw him acting in a number of roles in Australia and internationally.

During this time, Mike established a strong reputation with institutional investors and intermediaries across the Australian and US markets. He developed a deep understanding of capital markets and investment management products and practices.

In 2002, Mike helped set up the origins of Causeway Financial. Between 2003 and 2008, he was jointly responsible for launching, originating and managing Australian Private Debt investment portfolios for Maple Financial Group and MFS.

In 2008, Causeway became an independent asset manager in the private debt and alternate asset sector.

Mike stepped away from the day-to-day running of Causeway Financial between 2012 to 2015 to act as Chief Executive Officer of Tyndall Asset Management in Australia, where he was responsible for $23bn of equity and fixed income assets. On leaving this role he rejoined our business.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Economics in Accounting and Finance from the University of Sydney and is a graduate of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
